London's Flags are falling down...

Yesterday evening Oxford Street saw the first of the Jubille's celebrations in tatters as one of the many strings of flags to London's famous Oxford Street, toppled from its tie.

Police were called at around 9.45pm to cordon off the central reservation of the road for fear of other road users' safety.

Passers by watched as these iconic reminders to the up and coming celebrations, hung down on to the road and creating a stir to drivers and late night shoppers.

147 flags have been hung 90 foot high, down the length of Oxford Street to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the number of years that fashion has been at the heart of this world famous destination.

The flags will be seen by an estimate of 12 million shoppers from more than 150 countries.

Oxford Street boasts over one and a half miles of outstanding British retail and is said to be the greatest retail environment in the whole world.

Eye Photographic Workshop, Majorca.

4 days, 4 students, 20 degrees. Why wouldn't you want to go on an Eye Photographic Workshop in Majorca's most glorious little hideaway, Pollenca?

With not one but TWO stunning plaza's, Plaza Major boasts a beautiful church and littered with cafes one can hear the clinking of wine glasses and tinkering of teaspons which gently add to the ambience of this lively mediterranean square.

The smaller and somewhat quieter of the two squares has become one of the major tourist spots on the island for there are 365 steps leading up to the small chapel of Calvari at the top.
A challenge for all, a record states 2 minutes 58 seconds to run from top to bottom. ...I took my time and my camera, and stopped about 5 times on the way up!

                                                                    Calgari Chapel, outside and in.

So the workshop begins after a hearty breakfast at nine, quick top up of coffee and a prompt start at 10.
Cameras are discussed and functions put to use, auto mode is quickly a thing of the past, and a handful of confident photographers are set to their task.

Task one: APERTURE

Afternoon holds a host of fun when discovering how the shutter priority setting works, and an experiment with water and some panning (with the help of the Britiah Cycle team,) we put to use our new found knowledge and snap furiously at the cyclists as they fly by.

Task 2: SHUTTER SPEED
1/640 of a second... and a nasty shock!! He hee!
(Thank you Betty for this photograph!)

Day two and thrust into the bustling market...

and then to the beach... for more shutter and aperture practice!

Day three introduced Kim, our model for the day...

and then some action shots...

Just a typical day on an Eye Photographic workshop, action packed and a whole lot of fun.
Time to go home for some supper...

Eye Photographic Workshops are run all over the world, for more information please visit: www.eyephotographicworkshops.com

Flipping tosser!

Theres nothing like a bit of stiff competition on pancake day, every year it's the same...

Whose pancake is the roundest?
What is the best filling?
Who can flip it the highest...?
Who forgot and burnt theirs?

So a pancake-off is the only remedy, but this time Harry won, hands down...

...but you cant win every time! He hee!
